Explore the identityView the division

The complete identity

One authored mark. Two working modes. No substitute phi in a nicer coat.

The custom silhouette and compact two-line name form the division lock-up. Night and paper contexts change the colour relationship, never the drawing.

The rule

Keep the silhouette, proportions and two-line name intact. Context may recolour the same mark; it may not redraw, regularise or stretch it.

Identity system

Gold means something. The other colours have jobs.

The architecture stays black, grey and paper. Insight Gold signals attention and action; the learning palette identifies different kinds of thinking.

The open-cap mark

A recognisable gesture, not a generic character.

Its irregular curve is part of the authored identity. Insight Gold is the ordinary shell colour, with controlled grey or learning-colour versions only when the surrounding context gives that colour a real job.

Surface grammar

Night gets you moving. Paper gives the ideas somewhere to land.

The visual system behaves like a set of materials, not a bag of interchangeable cards. Shape and movement follow the job of each surface.

Day · book · staticThin shelf row

Compact references and ordered collections.

Day · card · raisedContained idea

A squarer paper face with a visible material seat.

Night · route · staticDirectional passage

A large entrance that makes movement obvious.

Night · field · gridArchitectural section

The quiet construction grid belongs to the field, not every object.

Voice

Serious, accessible and independent.

Explain the hard idea plainly. Keep the uncertainty. Permit the occasional dry elbow in the ribs. Never sound like a school prospectus or a machine narrating its paperwork.

Use it for

Division and learning contexts

  • The Bibby Philosophy public site and learning resources
  • Division-level First Principles Works material
  • Browser, home-screen and manifest identity
  • Approved educational publications and presentations

Keep the boundary

Do not flatten the system

  • Do not replace the custom mark with a typeface phi
  • Do not stretch, outline or rebuild the silhouette
  • Do not use Insight Gold as a sixth subject colour
  • Do not add decorative grids to ordinary cards or buttons

The transparent mark is ready for dark and controlled division contexts. The platform icons already include the protection required by their destination.
